WHAT IS A ROOF CERTIFICATION INSPECTION?

A roof certification is a Citizens Insurance form that can only be filled out by a licensed qualified professional. The form is for insurance purposes only and identifies approximately how old the roof is and approximately how many years of life the roof has left. The roofing material is examined from above and the roof decking is inspected from inside the attic. The ceilings inside the home are also checked for any signs of leaks.

A Roof Certification Inspects for the following:

  • Condition of roofing materials.

  • Loose material.

  • Deteriorated and/or damaged areas.

  • Cracking and/or weathered areas.

  • Wood rot and watermarks under roof decking.

  • Watermarks inside the home.

After the inspection is complete, the form can be emailed and/or sent by text, usually the next day. Once you have the report it would typically be submitted to your insurance company for further review.
